The State University of Land Use Planning (SULUP) is one of the oldest universities in Russia. On May 25, 1779, it was opened as a Surveying school, which was named in honor of the grandson of the Russian Empress Catherine II, Grand Duke Konstantin Pavlovich, who was born that year. The Russian state attached special importance to land surveying and special surveying education and therefore always supported our educational institution.

The University takes an active part in the work of a number of international organizations, such as the International Federation of Geodesists (FIG), the International Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) and others. University delegations regularly participate in events organized by these international organizations in different countries.
About 20% of all foreign citizens studying in Russia in the field of land management, cadastre and land monitoring are students of our university.
The University employs over 300 faculty members, with more than 200 of them holding academic degrees and titles. There are 6 schools, 24 departments, 8 laboratories and private geodetic field training centre.
